What is Karma by KV Dominic

What is Karma?
Dr. K. V. Dominic

“What is Karma?”
Joseph, youth of twenty
asked his parish priest, Fr. Francis.
“Great question!” Fr. Francis answered.
 “When one learns its answers
and applies it on life
becomes wise and jnani.
Our Indian philosophy
richest mine of any such riddle.
Three types of karmas:
Tamasik, Rajasik, Satvik.”
“Kindly explain, Father.”
“Speech and deeds not caring result,
minding not feelings and emotions,
just like the action of a terrorist
is Tamasik, which you shall never do.
Words and actions
done to please oneself
fall under selfish Rajasik karma.
Words and deeds
done to serve others
are selfless Satvik karma
which makes you a saint.”
“How can one be Satvik, Father,
when Greed is chasing like a monster?”
“Tapas can drive any Greed;
need not go to the Himalayas;
meditation in one’s room is enough.
Satvik karma bears no stamp of the doer;
it’s purified action emitted like a ray.
Once done the doer shall never remember;
never expect return from beneficiary;
not even grateful words or look.
Satvik person overcomes emotions;
negative emotions of anger, apathy,
conceit, despair, doubt, envy,
fear, greed, guilt and hate,
never dare enter one’s mind.
Loves all objects of universe;
animate and inanimate;
animal world and plant world.
Learns the truth ‘aham brahmasmi’
‘I am the infinite reality.’
Thus attains realization of life.”
Fr. Francis enlightened Joseph’s mind.
“Thanks a lot Father for
showing me the right

I Remember by Mandira Mukherjee

I remember you in my most lonely moments,
When I feel, awkward, deserted by sensibility,
When mature thoughts fail to give me smart choices,
I remember your integrity.

I remember you in my wisest moments,
When your spirit manifests in those around you,
When I could feel your compassion transmit to the lowly souls,
I remember the ideals practiced by you.

I am scared of your barking moments,
When you bother least about others' feelings,
Still I reserve my pensive being in your custody for cares
I remember your selflessness.

I remember you in my ignorant moments,
When I praise your limitless thirst for knowledge,
Your creativity finds sublimation among your proteges
I remember your surrendering to Infinity, the Supreme Bliss

Candles in the Wind by Chayan Chatterjee

Standing in the darkness alone
You the brave heart,
Spreading the rays of hopes to weak,
Melting the silence apart.
Trembling lights in cautious hand
Speaking the unspoken words aloud,
Inaudible but heard in great decibel
Than mike. Then some feels about
Stand by side, starting a journey,
Initially slow but steady in flight.
Accusing injustice, demanding rights
Soon joined by many more comrades
Who together tear silence of the dreadful nights.
Cold wind never able to stop your firm steps
You the flickering soldiers of humanity
Quaking the most solid throne you march ahead
Silently and peacefully with no casualties.
You won the hardest battle before and I know
You will this time too, your lights joins the whole world
As the dreadful time must pass through.
You are the lights of victory, the passion in romance,
Your presence gives courage, your prayers are never
Unheard.

The You in his Mirror by Chayan chatterjee

The You in His mirror

Why rejoice when you've created none
Why lament when you haven't lost anything
All that are won and lost,
Are neither your nor mine.
We are just making some unknown things known
And the opposits, thoughts and emotions sublime.
Laugh and cry are the spices that cook
Life in vein glory and a little stir fry evaporates ego,
That covers eye.
Donate everything, wins and losts, laughs and cries, rejoices and laments,
To that most trustable mirror, which holds your ture reflections,
Let it have the power to ask you questions
About your existence...

You will have yourself a mere puppet just fulfilling
His purposes, works that are destined to happen
From much earlier.

Then why rejoice and lament when you've
Created or destroyed none.

I Can Hear the Groan of Mother Earth by KV Dominic

DOMINIC KV

I can Hear the Groan of Mother Earth
K. V. Dominic

I can hear the groan of mother earth
being raped by her own beloved human sons
Having sucked all milk from her mountain breasts
quarry deep out of construction mania

I can hear her shriek for help
when they cut each her vein
and drain all brooks and rivers

Can’t you hear your mother’s wail
when they pluck her hair after hair
felling trees and plants which protect them?

I can hear the scream of elephants, tigers,
Boars, snakes and all wild animals
when they drive them from their homes
and starve to death by burning forests

I can hear the death cry of bird after bird
when they cut their feeding trees
to make their selfish life more luxurious

Man, can’t you hear those tremors of curses
hurled on you by endangered animals, birds and plants?
Man, I can hear mother earth cursing you
As Gandhari did long back to Lord Krishna

A Mockery of the World by Prasanta Kumar Panda

Prasanta Kumar Panda

A MOCKERY OF THE MOULD

I am a feminist poet
And I take advantage of being a woman
To sexualise love.
I do it to oppose my counterpart
Who writes to emotionalise love.

I have an ideal organic whole mode
Fragmented for a cause,
But you can call it ambivalence
Wriggling and quivering below the lines
Like a body seeking pleasure.

My counterpart is shamelessly blatant.
He never makes it hard to be visible,
Neither male nor patriarchal.
Yet he is there for me to bemoan as one.

My metaphor to portray my body is a flower
With blood spots in its petals,
His is the one that fights because he is there
Be it a sword or a tower.

Both of us are poets
Yet a question separates us:
Whether he is more equal than me
Or in my attempt to prove myself more equal than him,
I have made him tower.

We cannot inhabit the same idea just because we are answers.
yet we  have lost our memory now what was the question we were set to answer.
